Microsoft's Rumored Smartwatch Could Be Pretty Hideous

Microsoft, under the tutelage of CEO Satya Nadella, is reportedly attempting to release a smartwatch out ahead of Apple and before the holiday spending season reaches peak crazy. Too bad it's a total eyesore nobody will want to wear. Apple, of course, caused the Internet's head to explode last month when it debuted the Apple Watch, a sleek and svelte fusion of style and technology everyone and their mom will no doubt be clamoring to get their hands on. At $349, it's cheap enough that you'll justify it and pricey enough that Apple will polish its collective Digital Crown all the way to the bank. Microsoft's answer is currently in the rumor phase, with few details to really grasp on to. But if this rendering, courtesy of ValueWalk, is any indication, you'd be better off tying your old Nokia brick phone around your wrist and calling it a Christmas. Warning: This is just a rendering (we hope) "One major advantage that the as yet unnamed smartwatch will have over its rivals," writes ValueWalk, "is the ability to sync with iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices." The news was first reported by Forbes as early as May.  Greater compatibility is cool. But another rumored feature is an emphasis on fitness, which anyone watching that Apple announcement could tell you is a major focus for them, too.  Should this thing see the light of day, it will probably look considerably better than what we've got right now. Then again, Google Glass is somehow still a thing.    Image via ValueWalk
