Hiring in the Hub 9/26-10/2: Acronis, Merchant Warehouse & Nimbus Discovery Name New Executives

Boston's business elite has been busy this past week. Catch up on who's going where below: Woburn-based data protection solutions provider Acronis named John Zanni (photographed right) its senior vice president of cloud and hosting sales. Zanni comes to Acronis from Parallels, a platform provider for cloud service delivery, where he served as chief marketing officer. Prior to Parallels, Zanni was the general manager of the Worldwide Software + Services Industry team at Microsoft. Brenda Cross-Sanchez was appointed the vice president of development and communication for The Possible Project, a nonprofit youth entrepreneurship center focused on teaching high school students how to start and run their own businesses. Cross-Sanchez most recently worked at Wentworth, where she served as vice president of institutional advancement. Under her leadership, the school secured $30 million in private and corporate support — the largest sum in the institution's history, according to a release. RSD, a provider of Information Governance solutions for the enterprise, announced James Fieger (photographed left) has joined the company as its executive vice president of worldwide sales. Although headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the company boasts offices in Boston. Fieger, who held the title of the executive senior vice president of worldwide sales at Unica (acquired by IBM), will be responsible for managing RSD's worldwide sales resources. Information management company Iron Mountain named former Microsoft executive Ted MacLean its chief marketing officer, according to the Boston Business Journal. MacLean will "be responsible for enabling the growth of the company's business units." Biotechnology company Nimbus Discovery tapped Donald Nicholson as its first-ever chief executive, according to the Boston Globe. Since 2012, Executive Chairman Dan Lynch has been overseeing Nimbus; he will remain in the role, but Nicholson will take over day-to-day operations as the company "gears up to move its first drug candidate into clinical trials." Payment technologies company Merchant Warehouse appointed Ken Paull (photographed right) as its chief revenue officer. Paull joins Merchant Warehouse from mobile commerce platform ROAM. Shared the company's CEO Henry Helgeson in a statement: Our team is incredibly excited to have Ken on board; his experience building brands and sales teams will catapult our company into the next phase of growth. We're at an exciting point in the company's evolution where we're enabling businesses to embrace the future. In education-related news, Tufts' Gordon Institute named Mark Ranalli (photographed below) its new executive director and associate dean. Prior to Tufts, Ranalli worked as the managing director at Andover, Mass.-based RR Donnelley, which acquired his company Helium in 2011 for an undisclosed amount. RR Donnelley uses digital and conventional technologies to provide printing, logistics and other products to the private and public sectors. Shared Linda Abriola, dean of Tufts School of Engineering, in a statement: With over 24 years of experience as a business executive and entrepreneur, Mark will be a wonderful leader for our engineering management and entrepreneurship programs, and I am confident that he will advance TGI's mission of educating students and professionals in innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership. As reported in Wednesday's BostInno Beat, Fareed Mosavat has left RunKeeper as its VP of product. Writes our own Greg Gomer: We're not sure why Mosavat left RK although he did recently go on a Twitter rant and did move out west, so maybe that's why. The Apple Watch is yet to see the light of day, so hopefully he didn't bail just because of a little competition (OK, maybe a big competition). Also in Wednesday's Beat (you really should sign up): Rumor's out on the streets that Facundo Chamut will be joining Price Intelligently as chief product officer. He's currently at Boundless and previously co-founded Testive and worked at Compete. PI's website also appears to have received a nice facelift — with a few recognizable mugs on there. We've previously gossed that PI is quietly building a cash generating machine. Keep an eye out for these guys. Images via Launch Squad, Version 2.0 Communications and LinkedIn
